European Web3 Summit is an event dedicated to fostering a robust and sustainable environment for Web3 in Europe, featuring an annual gathering of key industry leaders, innovators, and thought leaders. The first invitation-only two-day conference took place in Brussels in 2023. The next event is scheduled for November 2024.

Day 1: Focus on the Web3 transformation in Europe

During the first day, our honored panelists discussed 6 topics dedicated to the future of Web3, DeFi, blockchain, and digital payments in the EU.

“What are the chances that Europe could be at the forefront of Web3 innovation in the world?,” — asked Victor Berezenko, EW3S organizer, in the opening keynote.

As Rapolas Lakavicius from the European Commission noted, multiple players in the EU would like to use values the Web3 offers, ” but they want to be sure it’s done legally, in line with applicable rules and regulations.”

Day 2: Focus on regulations and Web3 use cases

The second day shed light on 7 topics, varying from the best regulatory practices outside the EU to using the metaverse and digital identity.

Citing Jan Klesla, General Secretary at INATBA, the European family is “glad to finally have a regulatory framework embodied in MiCa, though there’s still much work to do.”

The speakers also pondered on how Web3, digital ID, and other tools can create a more equal society in the future, agreeing that to reach this, we have to “do a lot of advocacy and continue spreading the word about Web3.”
