DESTRUCTION AND LOSSES

📌According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, confirmed losses among civilians during the 5 days of war are:

📌On February 28, at 02:00 PM local time, Kharkiv was attacked with “Grad” rockets. One of the rockets landed next to a kindergarten. Based on preliminary data, as a result of the shooting, 1 person is dead and 30 are injured. On February 27 at night, the mayor of Kharkiv announced that Kharkiv survived its most difficult day since World War II.

📌During the night of February 28, in the city of Tokmak (Zaporizhzhia region), massive confrontation took place involving Russian saboteurs dressed in Ukrainian military uniform but in Russian bulletproof vests. Similarly, saboteur groups conducted attacks in various parts of Kyiv.

📌According to preliminary data, a painting collection of Maria Prymachenko (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Prymachenko) was destroyed during the night shootings in Ivankovo, where the artist’s museum is located. 

📌Ukrainian cities continue to be subjected to air attacks. Over the past days, 17 air raid alerts went off in Kyiv, Dnipro 4, Kharkiv 6, Zaporizhzhia 2, Zhytomyr 3, Lviv 4, Chernihiv 5. Air raid alerts also went off in Lugansk, Uman, Khmelnitsky, Chernivtsi, Shostka, Poltava, Bila Tserkva, Boguslav, Mironovka.

📌As a result of attacks in Chernihiv, residential areas were damaged and the building of the construction supermarket “Epicenter” was blown up. A fire broke out in the perimeter of the explosion. 

📌During the talks between Ukraine and Russia, military operations and air strikes continued on the territory of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.

DEFENSE UPDATES

📌The Ukrainian delegation arrived to ​​the Ukrainian-Polish border to participate in negotiations with representatives of the Russian Federation. The key demand of the Ukrainian side was an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, including the previously occupied territories, the DPR, LPR and Crimea.

📌Based on the latest information provided by the Ministry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the garrison of Zmiinyi Island is alive and in captivity. Earlier, based on preliminary data, it was reported about the death of 13 military personnel who were holding the defense of the island at the time of the attack by the Russian military vessel.

📌The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of a new military unit named “International Legion”.

📌The residents of Berdyansk, after capture of the city by occupying forces, protested peacefully near the city hall, demanding that the invaders leave the city. The mayor of the city  continues to perform his duties to the extent possible from the shelter.

📌Public transport in Kyiv was restored to a reasonable extend under the circumstances; after the end of the two-day curfew, the metro began to function again. The railway connection with Western Ukraine has also been reinforced for the voluntary evacuation of the population of Kyiv.

📌Ukrainians have already donated UAH 1.5 million to the Army in less than 2 days, thanks to a new feature in the Diya digital document application.

CONSEQUENCES IN RUSSIA

📌 The value of the Russian ruble against the dollar dropped significantly, crossing the mark of 100 rubles and is now worth 104 rubles based on the Central Bank’s rate. This is a historical minimum. At the same time, the real commercial rate in Russian banks varies between 140 to 190 rubles per dollar. The Russian Central Bank raised its base interest rate to 20% from 9,5%.

📌 Sberbank shares fell by 75% per day on the London Stock Exchange.

📌 The global cyber community has launched numerous attacks on the websites of Russian government agencies, businesses and media outlets,which support the war with Ukraine.

PUBLIC SUPPORT

📌Russian oligarch, Oleg Tinkov, spoke out against the war in Ukraine, launched by his country.

📌The MEGOGO international media service has removed all Russian films and series from its databases.

📌The GOOGLE MAPS service blocked 2 functions in Ukraine for safety of Ukrainians – the real-time traffic overlay on the roads on google maps and the Live Business service, which shows real time location (very popular function used by many people).  

📌In Lisbon, during the match between Benfica and Vitoria Guimaraes teams, the entire stadium welcomed the Ukrainian striker of Benfica, Roman Yaremchuk, with a standing ovation. In addition, other representatives of the international sports community spoke up against war in Ukraine. FIFA announced the ban of Russian football teams from all FIBA and UEFA competitions, both on national and club level.

📌In many world capitals, daily mass demonstrations continue in support of Ukraine. Over the past 24 hours, residents of Berlin, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, and Milan protested against the war in Ukraine.

 

 

📌The AirBNB international accommodation service will provide housing for 100,000 refugees from Ukraine, as stated by its founder, Brian Chesky, on his Twitter account.

INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT OF UKRAINE

📌As of February 28, Ukraine has already been supported by 86 countries and 13 international organizations.

📌In the past 24 hours, world partners supplied Ukraine with the following assistance:

  EU lethal weapons in the amount of 450 million euros;

  Norway 230 million dollars of humanitarian aid;

  Italy 110 million euros;

  Australia lethal military assistance;

  Belgium 3 thousand machine guns and 200 anti-tank weapons;

  Germany anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles;

  Czech Republic weapons and equipment in the amount of 18 million dollars;

  Sweden 5 thousand units of anti-tank weapons.

📌The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in an interview with EURONEWS expressed a desire to see Ukraine in the EU.

📌32 countries have closed their airspace for Russian aircrafts, including all private business jets for EU airspace.

 

📌In Europe, the Russian channels RT and Sputnik, which spread disinformation, are banned.

📌According to Reuters, Switzerland violated its neutrality for the first time since 1815 and imposed financial restrictions against President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin Mishustin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Swiss Government also confirmed its readiness to deliver assistance to refugees from Ukraine coming from Poland.

📌 Since war erupted, the countries of Poland, Romania, Moldova and Hungary received more than 500 thousand refugees from Ukraine.
