Press digest – Ukraine

10th day of heroic resistance of Ukraine against Russian military invasion

DESTRUCTION AND LOSSES

📌On 5 March, air alerts were triggered in the following regions: Gostomel, Kyiv and Kyiv region, Poltava, Mirgorod, Zhytomyr, Belaya Tserkov, Zhytomyr, Lubny, Kropyvnytsky and Kirovohrad regions, Korosten, Vasilkov, Chernihiv, Vinnitsa, Dnipro, Pervomaisk, Izmail, Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhne, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, Slavyansk.

📌Since the beginning of the day on March 5, the Russian troops have been shelling residential private and apartment buildings and civilian facilities (schools, kindergartens, hospitals, grocery stores) in Nikolaev, Irpin, Kharkov, Chernihiv.

📌Street fights continued all day in Kharkiv, Sumy, Nikolaev, Irpen, Mariupol.

📌 As a result of an air strike on residential buildings in Chernihiv on March 5, 47 people were killed, 18 more were injured. Rescuers continue to clear the remains.

📌Russian invaders (according to preliminary information – a detachment of Chechen fighters, the so-called “Kadyrovites”) have seized a psychiatric boarding school in the city of Borodyanka near Kiev and are holding 600 patients hostage.

📌According to the OKHMATDET Center, due to the inability to provide the necessary medical care and appropriate drugs on time, 2 children could not be saved yesterday.

📌 In the town of Novopskov, Luhansk region, Russian invaders shot at civilians attending a peaceful rally. 3 people were injured.

📌 Since the launch of Russian invasion, 1,370 thousand refugees were forced to leave Ukraine.

📌 The Russian military continues to control the perimeter of the Zaporozhye NPP. Should the control of the nuclear power plant last in the hands of the invaders and with the sky open above it, the world may face a catastrophe 6 times greater than Chernobyl:

🖇The nuclear power plant in Energodar is several times larger and more powerful than the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

🖇Russia’s actions confirm: Putin promised a nuclear threat – Putin creates it.

🖇There are no nuclear weapons in Ukraine, but a very powerful nuclear industry. There are 15 power units in the “hostile” territories or under threat and under shelling and/or threat of explosion.

🖇There are no borders for radiation – if a catastrophe happens, it will affect everyone in Ukraine, Europe, and Russia.

 DEFENSE UPDATES

📌According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on March 4, the Ukrainians had already shot down at least 39 Russian aircraft and 40 helicopters. Prior to the invasion of Ukraine, the

Russian army had about 700 aircraft concentrated near the borders of Ukraine, roughly 450 planes and 250 helicopters.

📌The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a Russian military helicopter near Chernihiv and captured the pilot. 📌Close to Nikolaev, marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 4 Russian helicopters.

📌 Also subject to shelling were civilian vehicles that evacuated residents from the city of Bucha in the suburbs of Kyiv.

📌 The occupying forces blew up the railway tracks at the entrance to the city of Irpen in the suburbs of Kyiv, which made the previously planned evacuation of civilians from the city shelled by Russian troops on the 10th day impossible to be carried out.

📌 In Kherson, Nikolaev, Melitopol, Mariupol, city residents protest against Russian paramilitary units and demand they leave Ukrainian cities. In Kherson, the invaders responded by firing “warning bursts” from machine guns into the air.

📌Ukrainian troops recaptured the Kulbakino airport in Nikolaev.

📌In Ukraine, an official Telegram channel has been launched to search for those who disappeared during the hostilities. (https://t.me/dity_sos).

📌 The armed forces of the Russian Federation continued their missile and bomb attacks on Mariupol, Volnovakha, and other cities. Prolonged shelling makes it impossible to open humanitarian corridors for the safe evacuation of the civilian population and delivery of medicines and food.
